Hot Tip for 2006 – Get a Web Site

0 Comments 20 February 2006

Here’s to all you small business owners that still don’t have a web site: Gen Y will NOT find you if you don’t get one. Our tip of the year is that 99% of the time, regardless of your profession or business interest, you will benefit from what we call a "business card" web site. This is a one page site that is hosted with your own domain. Depending on how complex your graphics are and whether or not you have existing design materials to pull from, you should be able to pay about $250 to get such a site, including a year of hosting and domain registration. Your site should include the following main elements: your logo (if one exists), contact information (including physical address, phone numbers, and an e-mail link), hours of operation, a great photo or two, and most importantly, a short paragraph stocked full of key words describing your business.

Stay tuned if you need specific info on why this site is so important to your business. For those you who’ll take my word for it – beat your competition and get started today.

Update 10/1/06: Cost for basic business card site per several suppliers is about $500 including hosting and domain, which is easily $270 per year in and of itself.
